I was browsing around today on the Marketing Magazine website, and looked at their featured campaign section. I found the Big Brothers and Big Sister television commerical, can be seen here http://qml.quiettouch.com/files/publishing/marketing/MarketingDaily/2008/MasterCard1210.mpg if you havent seen it. "MasterCard Canada and Roots have given the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada a priceless boost this holiday season, with an integrated brand awareness campaign promoting the charity’s mentoring programs. The TV commercial shows mentors clumsily playing football, ice skating and fishing with their little “brother” or “sister,” and ends with the tag line: “Being a great role model just as you are: priceless.“People are hesitant to become [a big brother or sister] because they feel they aren’t perfect enough,” said Tomovich. “The message is, you just have to be yourself and be willing to give some time to a child in need, and that’s the greatest gift of all—time.” is how its explained on the the Marketing Magazine website. I really enjoy the reality of the situtaions that are shown. It shows a human side of Mastercard, caring about people and realating it to the Big Brother Big Sister program. The commercial is suppose to encourage Canadians to help give a child a mentor by making a $5 donation online. Mastercard Canada gave $25,000 to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Roots is also supporting the Big Brothers Big Sisters program with an in-store campaign asking consumers to add a $1 donation to their purchase.
Check out the Big Brothers and Big Sisters website to help out.
